Going live

Publish your site for free on Cloudflare Pages or Netlify.

First, set baseURL in hugo.toml to your real address. Then put your project in a GitHub repository, so your host can rebuild the site whenever you make a change.

Cloudflare Pages

  1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, create a Pages project and connect your repository.
  2. Use the build settings below.
  3. Deploy, then add your domain under Custom domains.
Setting Value
Build command npm run build
Output directory public

Netlify

Add a new site from your repository with the same two settings.

Any other host

Run this on your computer, then upload everything inside public/ to your host:

npm run build

Before you announce it

  • Your name, baseURL and accent colour are set
  • Sample names, numbers, quotes and posts are replaced
  • The contact form sends a test message
  • static/share.png and static/favicon.svg are yours
  • Privacy and Terms are your own
  • You’ve tested the live site at PageSpeed Insights
