Launches

The launch checklist we use for every release

Launches rarely go wrong because of one big mistake. They go wrong because of ten small things that everybody assumed someone else had done.

One week before

  • Freeze the scope and write down what’s not shipping.
  • Name one owner for launch day.
  • Draft the announcement and the help articles.

The day before

Run through the whole flow on the production site, as a new user, on a phone. You’ll find something. Everybody does.

Launch morning

Ship early in the day and early in the week, so your team is around if something needs fixing.

The morning after

Write down one thing that went well and one thing to change. Add it to the checklist, and the next launch gets a little easier.
